Every morning I read a chapter of Essentialism with my second coffee, before starting work. The chapter today was called Editing. It really made me think. It's not just about editing elements out of my life at a macro level; it's also about making micro-edits in my work and leisure.

Sometimes I need to reorient myself in relation to my life. Looking at my life through a different lens, if you will, can help my mental state immensely. It helps me be more calm, creative, and determine what is essential to my well-being.

Today I made a breakthrough; I said no to an opportunity that seemed ok, but not excellent for me. The result was pretty liberating. I'm looking for a very specific type of job, and this one wasn't it, so I passed. I know sometimes people say if you don't answer when opportunity knocks, you are signaling that you do not want opportunity. I disagree wholeheartedly, and here's why.

I guess some days we all get writers block. I'm just currently not feeling any one dominant emotion, nor am I deep in an idea. I have just finished up work for the evening, and I'm tired more than anything. One week away from closing out one of my engagements, and I'm super happy about that. I love doing the work, but I'll be relieved to have some free time.

I've been trying to write down five ideas while the sun rises each morning, and it's definitely been a fun experience. Initially I was just writing down five business ideas. Now that my focus has changed, I'm writing to figure out how best to use my time. So far, it's a great practice.
