Missing Travel a Bit

“It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out of your door. You step into the Road, and if you don't keep your feet, there is no knowing where you might be swept off to.” – Bilbo Baggins

That is one of my favourite quotes. When I think about it, every time I walk out my door, I wonder where I'm going to end up. Naturally, it's almost always the same places, but we can have fun by finding new ways to get there.

I went to get some beer at a local brewery the other day, and I took the back way. The journey was a little over an hour (so was the brewery local?), but boy, was it gorgeous. Lots of land I had never previously covered. It's really nice to see new land, to get to a place I've been before by a different route.

This is also useful when it comes to solving problems. Looking at each problem through the same lens, taking the same path to a solution, can not always yield optimal results. It is nice to take the road less traveled to get to a different, similar, and maybe even better(!!) solution.

I guess what I'm getting at is that I miss going to new places, especially with the lockdowns and stay at home orders, but also I miss solving complex problems with creative solutions. Here's hoping I can do both soon!
